Taormina International Music Festival

The fascinating and fantastic panorama of the teather “San Giorgio” in Taormina welcomes the second edition of the “Taormina International Music Festival” this summer. Local and international artists perform in the monumental setting of this theater located in the heart of Taormina. The Festival offers recitals ranging from the fascinating Opera Lyric, to the entertaining Operetta, to the timeless Neapolitan songs and to the great successes of world classical music.

The opening event of the Festival will take place on Saturday 2 September at 21:15 with the performance “Gran Galà dell’Opera”. The protagonists will be the Soprano and Artistic Director of the Festival Silvia Di Falco, the tenor Andrea Casablanca and Antonio Gennaro at the piano.

The guest of honor of the evening will be the famous tenor Antonio Bevacqua, who will receive a career prize for being distinguished in the opera world. Bevacqua won the A. Belli Contest of Spoleto in 1971 and from that moment begins an impetuous career singing in all major Italian theaters: Rome Opera, Scala of Milan, Fenice of Venice, St. Charles of Naples, Regio of Parma, Arena of Verona, Palermo Massimo Theater; under the direction of great masters such as Muti, Von Karajan, Patanè, Ferro, Molinari Pradelli, Gavazzeni, Chailly, Plasson, Maag, Chung, Pesko, Bartoletti; with great performers of the world lyric scene such as Cappuccilli, Nucci, Valentini, Devia, Scotto Bruson, Olivero, Gasdia e Baltza.
