Diving Taormina :
Explore the underwater world of Taormina’s beautiful sea, now with a touch Roman history !
At the south eastern extremity of the bay of Capo Taormina an ancient Roman wreck known as “Wreck of the columns” sinked more than two thousand years ago, the Vessel coming from some north African province was carrying Columns of white Marble to build a Temple in Taormina. Located around a plateau of sand and rocks outcrops at less than 20 m which has been hiding these columns for many years, they are now visible and explorable thanks to well organised excursions . The underwater conditions here are highly influenced by both weather and currents so it’s High Recommended to explore the site with a Underwater Archaeology Course.
