Built as a luxury home, Villa Ducale Boutique Hotel has the kind of views you never forget: over terracotta rooftops to Mount Etna and down to Taormina Bay and the deep blue Mediterranean. Stone steps encircle the entire Villa with pretty, colourful flowers lining the way. And inside, the 17 double rooms and suites come in all different shapes and sizes. The design team from Studio Area have done a great job of modernising the traditional Sicilian style combining vibrant colours, patterns and fabrics with a contemporary edge. From dawn till dusk, the terrace is the main hub of Hotel Villa Ducale’s looking out to the panoramic views of the coast. This is where you’ll feast on delicious breakfasts of pastries and fresh fruit, mouth-watering lunches of pastas, salads and sandwiches, sunset cocktails and made-to-order candlelit suppers of traditional Sicilian, gluten-free cuisine cooked exactly to your taste. Nothing is too much trouble for Chef Santina and her brigade. The Villa’s free, regular shuttle service will take you to the fascinating town centre whose celebrated ruins and ancient (still in use) Greek Theatre draw a crowd year-round.
